Arlesey Town Youth Trip to Wembley 28/4/07 Players and parents from ATYFC got an early glimpse of the brand new Wembley Stadium on Saturday 28 April. Some weeks ahead of Stevenage Borough's FA Trophy Final, the impromptu trip, organised at short notice at ATYFC's AGM held the night before and thanks to Keith Broughton and all the Arlesey Town FC, enabled 25 representatatives from Arlesey's budding Youth section to see England's Under 16s in action against their Spanish counterparts. The game ended 1-0 to England with the only goal of the game scored by Everton's Jack Rodwell after 52 minutes. The magnificent new stadium got the thumbs up from the Arlesey contingent too! Reading striker Kitson dedicates goal against United to his late friend Gerald 1/3/07 Dave Kitson would like to dedicate his goal against Manchester United to a friend who recently passed away. The striker told readingfc.co.uk, "I would like to dedicate my goal to Gerald, who I've known since I played for Arlesey Town”. "He was a smashing older guy and had been watching Arlesey for years before I went there”. "He was always there, part of the furniture and watching from the same chair. He was a lovely fella, and that's all you look for in somebody”. "When he wasn't watching Arlesey he was a staunch Man Utd fan, so it would be nice to dedicate that goal in his memory, and his team won as well.” "I had a message on my arm that said 'Gerald RIP', but given that my goal came when we were 3-0 down, I didn't think it was appropriate to start running over to cameras and so on”. "So I thought that something on the website would be a nice way to remember him”. "He was one of those characters that makes local football what it is. A real character and a smashing guy”. "He would always give you the time of day, and he took a real interest in how you were getting on. He did that with no pretence, he was just interested and wanted to know if I was doing well. That's few and far between in the Premiership.” "He was a smashing guy, he'll be sorely missed and may he rest in peace." Words by Dave Kitson from www.readingfc.co.uk |

A BIG ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported the Club’s fundraiser Quiz Night last Saturday, 5 April and help make it a great success.
The event made over £500 profit for the Club and provided a few laughs for the 13 participating teams, not forgetting a tasty sausage and chips supper served up by The Millennium.
Quiz geezers Daz and Al, ably assisted by Jane, put the sides through their paces with eight rounds of questioning. Rounds included ‘A Question of Sport’, ‘Science Friction’ and ‘Soaps, Serials & Sit-coms’.
The winning team with 70 points was ‘The Gulls’, a team of Mums and Dads from Arlesey Girls team, the Sapphires. They were hotly pursued, in joint second place, by Jim Randall’s ‘Randlelized’ and Club Chairman, Trevor Flint’s ‘The Don’t Know It Alls.’
Once again, all this would not have been possible without the sterling support of a volunteer team working behind the scenes to make it all happen on the night - Karen Coles and Mark Osbourne behind the bar, Debbie Flint and Debbie Straughan organising the hall, not forgetting sign maker Kelsey Straughan, technically assisted by Sam Flint!
The cast list of teams was:
Anything Will Do
The Don’t Know It Alls – Joint 2nd place [68 points]
The Fixing Six
The Gulls – Winners [70 points]
The Last Resort – Joint 3rd place [65 points]
Norfolk & Chance
Norma’s Boobs
Rampant Rabbits
Randlelized – Joint 2nd place [68 points]
Sky High
Sky Plus
Who, What, When, Where
The Wrecking Crew – Joint 3rd place [65 points]
