Arlesey(A) 2-0 Bishops Stortford

A very cold morning for the last game of the season saw Arlesey produce a goal in the first two minutes, a hard kick from Cassius with Callum just tipping it into the goal. Some strong tackling and attacking from the Arlesey boys kept the ball in their possession for most of the first half.

The second half had everything a good football match should have, strong attacking from Callum and Cassius, hard defending from Owen and Ryan S.and accurate passing from all of them. The second goal for Arlesey came with a great kick from Kasey straight over the goalies head!

Due to injury and holidays many played out of position but this showed how skillfull the team have become by not letting the opposition have many attempts at our goal.

Well played everyone.

Played. Cassius Straugn, Callum Wells, Gurpal Dhesi, Ryan Slender, Owen Phillips, Jack Konopka, Kasey Tyler,

Ryan Lamond, Robbie Crofts,Brandon Geaves.

Arlesey(B) 1-0 Bishops Stortford

This second game had everything the first game had but the team had to work alot harder. A shot at goal from Bishops Stortford was expertly saved by Gurpal. Passing was first class in midfield and up front with many attempts at oppositions goal but first half ended 0-0.

The second half produced fantastic football and was a joy to watch. Everyone worked so hard to keep possession of the ball. Brilliant defending from Owen and Luc in defence had the opposition rattled. A quick pass from Callum to Jack K. saw him strike the ball into the back of the net. Great result for Arlesey taking them in the lead for 1-0. Again many played out of position so well done to all.

Played.Cassius Straugn, Callum Wells, Gurpal Dhesi, Ryan Slender, Owen Phillips, Jack Konopka, Kasey Tyler,

Ryan Lamond, Robbie Crofts, Luc Trampenau, Brandon Geaves.

Colts attacked Arlesey goal from the start but some great defending from Owen and Harry kept them at bay. A free kick taken halfway down the

field by Harry just went over the post. Great midfield passing from Callum and Kasey saw some great attempts at goal from Ryan and Cassius.

A goal for Colts just before the half time whistle made the score 1-0 to Colts.

The second half was non stop end to end football. A controlled cross from Ryan to Cassius, who just tipped the ball over the keeper to equalise.

A high kick at goal that Gurpal just couldnt reach at full stretch for 2-1 to Colts. Last 5 minutes gave us some frantic football and goal mouth

scrambles. A great performance from all players and the score does not reflect the effort put in by Arlesey.

The game started positively for Arlesey with good efforts from both Cassius Straughn and Ryan Slender.

Harry Bean and Owen Phillips defended solidly with Kasey Tyler and Callum Wells linking up well in the centre. Gurpal Dhesi was having another positive game in goal with a series of fine saves. However A direct move from Stevenage pierced through the defence to make it 1-0 at half time.

After the break Arlesey produced some great one-touch football which resulted in a clinical finish by Ryan. Stevenage defended well with their goal keeper making some great saves, however Arlesey broke through again with a move which mirrored the first. With a succession of one touch passes through the whole team, Ryan was fed the perfect ball from Cassius who finished with precision.

Within seconds of the off, Arlesey took the first goal, with Jack Konopka finishing well with some good link up play from Robbie Crofts, Kieran Hall and Ryan Lamond. Stevenage found it difficult to break through a tight defence with both Luc Trampenau and Brandon Geaves communicating well with Gurpal in the goal.

Again a great move by Robbie led to a pass which was crossed over by Ryan and touched in from close range by Jack K. Jack Archer also came close with a shot just before the half.

The second half started again with Arlesey on the front front with Kieran and Luc coming forward with a couple of good runs. Stevenage then pulled a goal back against the run of play. The Stevenage goalkeeper then handled the ball just outside the box. Robbie comfortably fired home the free kick. Brandon was having another good game in defence, and it was from his positive defending which ultimately led to the fourth goal, with Ryan finishing well. A very wet start to 2007 for the under 8's with the Cougars only having 6 players, Gurpal volunteered to play in goal for them, and had a great game making some excellent saves.

Hat trick from Harry a brace from Kasey and Ryan, with Cassius and a own goal completing the scoring. All the boys played well with Callum unlucky not to get on the score sheet.Owen thought he had scored but the ref had already blown for full time. Well done to Kieran and Jack A who played in goal, but never had a shot to save. The B game was abandoned due to the Cougars only having one team and the bad weather

Royston 0-4 Arlesey(A)

After playing two tough matches against Letchworth and St Neots the boys were up against another tough game from our friends from Royston. A side who we had never beaten in four previous games. With Brandon replacing the injured Owen and not putting a foot wrong, the boys started to put pressure on the Royston goalie. Some great runs and passes from Cassius led to a couple of near misses, good football from the boys led to Ryan S to score. In the second half Luc replaced Brandon. Royston started to put pressure on Gurpal but the birthday boy was equal to everything, we then started to play some great football which led to Ryan S to score his second goal. A free kick from Harry went straight in for 3-0. With Callums none stop running and tackling and Kasey's disciplined performance on the left of midfield, Harry and Luc solid in defence, Royston was having no joy. A great passing move from Cassius Callum and Ryan led to Kasey to score number 4. The perfect Christmas present from the boys, for the large Arlesey following and the coaching staff.

With Luc and Brandon rock steady in defence, they started to put pressure on the Royston goalie. Neat passing from Jack K and Robbie led to Jack K to score the first goal. Another hard working performance from Kieran, with Ryan L, Robbie and Jack K playing some great two touch football, would not let Royston back in to the game. Jack A replaced Brandon who took a knock to the nose. Another great move led to Robbie to score number 2. A great free kick from Ryan L was met by Jack K head and went just passed the post. Arlesey(A) 1-3 St Neots

A game of missed chances saw Arlesey lose out to a persistent St Neots side. The game started on the back foot as St Neots forced an early lead. Harry B and Owen P defended solidly and controlled the wings, whilst Callum W and Ryan S worked tirelessly in midfield. A shot to nothing looped over Gurpal to make it 2-0, however the desire to ‘stand up and be counted’ paid off when a blistering run and lay- off by Cassius saw Ryan thump one in to the back of the net, in turn St Neots were kept at bay with Gurpal yet again pulling off some great saves.

After the break, Arlesey once again looked strong with Casey Tyler and Callum controlling the midfield with Harry, Cassius and Ryan just missing out on goal, however once again St Neots landed the final blow with a quick counter attack to make it 3-1 the final score.

Jack A came on and fell straight into the action with a grit of determination.
